You Don’t Need to Perform for Your Wedding Photos

You don’t need to know how to pose, or create moments for the camera. Your wedding day isn’t a performance — it’s a lived experience, full of movement, emotion, and meaning.

My role is to give you the space to be present while paying close attention to what’s unfolding naturally — stepping in only when it serves you, and letting the rest happen honestly.

My Goals

More than just photographs, my goal is for you to walk away with images that feel like your day — not a version of it created for the camera.

Every wedding unfolds differently. There are moments you plan for, and many you don’t. I focus on the natural rhythm of the day itself  — the quiet in-between glances, the deep laughter, the way your hands find each other without thinking.

Because the most meaningful photographs aren’t staged. They’re felt, lived, and remembered — long after the day is over.

Hey! Im Emma...

I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Northern California, photographing weddings and intimate celebrations for couples who value connection over performance.

My work is rooted in helping people feel present on their wedding day, without forcing moments or interrupting the experience.

I’ve been telling stories through photography since 2005 and running my own business since 2011. Over the years, I’ve learned that the most meaningful images come from paying attention — to people, to timing, and to the subtle moments that often pass unnoticed. That experience allows me to move through a wedding day calmly and intuitively, knowing when to offer gentle guidance and when to quietly step back.

If you’re looking for someone who will read the room, stay grounded under pressure, and photograph your day as it naturally unfolds — you’re in the right place.

a little personal
Vintage childhood portrait of a young girl with bangs, smiling brightly, wearing a white t-shirt, evoking nostalgia and family memories.

I was born in South Africa and grew up barefoot, sun-kissed, and endlessly curious — shaped early by movement, adventure, and a deep appreciation for fleeting moments.

At eighteen, I packed my bags and moved to the UK on an open-ended ticket. I spent a few years there exploring, learning, and collecting stories before eventually finding my way back home — grounded, inspired, and changed in all the ways that matter.

These days, life looks like raising two incredible girls, cheering them on loudly, and soaking up the everyday moments that tend to pass quickly. That perspective carries into how I photograph weddings — with patience, presence, and an eye for what’s quietly meaningful.
